Lockout-Tagout (LOTO)
The process of de-energizing and securing
of machinery, equipment or processes to prevent the reintroduction of dangerous
energy during maintenance or repair. Dangerous energy may be electrical,
thermal, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical and mechanical.
ü Lockout used to isolate energy physically from the
system by using a variety of lockout padlocks and devices such as circuit
breaker lockouts or valve lockouts.
